Interpretive Indigenous Garden
Council in conjunction with LifeLinks, is developing an Interpretive Indigenous Garden that displays local plants and provides information on how residents can incorporate these plants into their own gardens.
As part of its Environmental Directions Management Plan, Council in conjunction with LifeLinks, is developing an Interpretive Indigenous Garden.
The garden will be completed in three stages. Stage One is complete and Stage Two is currently underway and involves the area outside the Civic Centre. Stage Three will commence in 2010 and complete the area outside of the Civic Centre.
What is an interpretive indigenous garden?
An interpretive indigenous garden is a garden that displays local plants and provides information on how residents can incorporate these plants into their own gardens. It also provides information on local ecosystems and what can be done to help conserve these areas.
What is the garden aiming to achieve?
The aim is to create a sustainable water wise garden rich in local biodiversity that can be showcased to the community. The garden will provide opportunities for community involvement, education and social activity.
